Timothy Leary and Starseed Transmission

Timothy Leary’s Signature (I found this an odd curiosity when I first started this research and posted to the Interra group weeks ago but didn’t understand it then)

It was while looking at the way Dr. Timothy Leary signed the 23 drawings that are featured in a display at THE LIGHT SPACE GALLERY in Venice, California, that I first noticed that the slashes across the ‘T’ and ‘L’ made the letters look almost identical to the ‘runes’ in a highly controversial and often misunderstood occult symbol known as “The Black Sun.”

Although the number 23 is connected with the star Sirius and Dr. Leary’s “Starseed Transmissions” (those received during the ‘dog days’ of 1973), which concerns a mystery* that involves Sirius’s dark companion (prosaically called Sirius B) – a ‘black sun’ known to various initiatory orders as “the sun behind the sun” and “The Hidden God”, I couldn’t help but wonder if he (Leary) hadn’t tuned into the even more esoteric concept of the Black Sun. In this case, the Black Sun symbolized the spiritual luminosity that is buried deep within the bowels of the earth. Here, “bowels of the earth” is a coded al-Khem-ical phrase for both the void of creation and another (hidden) dimension of consciousness called “Universe B.” Just as Sirius B is invisible to the naked eye (first photographed in the 1970s), the Black Sun of occult tradition is invisible to ordinary human perception. But to those who somehow do perceive it, this Black Sun serves as a beacon of the other side – that which humankind should seek via Da’ath (the so-called ‘false sephira’) on the Qabalistic Tree of Life, which is the gateway that leads to the shadow-side of the Tree. Interestingly enough, in light of Dr. Leary’s ideas about the transmutation of consciousness from our “linear terrestrial circuits of the nervous system to the future circuits”, the other side of the Tree of Life is usually related to the future.

So, was the veil lifted? Did Timothy Leary encode in his idiosyncratic signature the belief that he had perceived the shining darkness of this occult Black Sun with its orbit of mystery (again like Sirius B) via the Starseed Transmissions (or from other experiments he conducted)? This esoteric Black Sun which shall transform humankind spiritually when the ‘Eye’ is opened.

Visita Interiora Terrae Rectificando Invenies Occultum Lapidem

[which is latin for "visit the interior of the earth and there by rectification find the hidden stone". This ancient alchemical magickal formula symbolises the quest each of us have towards fulfilling our potential and finding the hidden treasures within our own worlds.]

This concerns the incredible knowledge of the Dogon tribe in Mali, Africa, who, according to some researchers, know specific details relating to the astro-physics (including periodicity and weight) of the Sirius system.

THE BLACK SUN IS: The Shadow Self – within the Self – and also the connection to the higher principle of the Shadow Self of “God” too, better known as the Hidden God.

The Shadow Self

Posted in: The Shadow Self (Non-Self) by Moon Elf on

Psychology:  THE BLACK SUN: ARCHETYPAL IMAGE OF THE NON-SELF one of the most numinous images of alchemical psychology: that which dissimulates consciousness as an independently existing Self. It is an expression of the archetypal imagination as distinguished from humanistic imagination rooted in Western metaphysics. The black Sun breaks up the logical life of the soul. It refuses all reification, and in the light of its dark effulgence psychology stands at the threshold of the new millennium.

Thus one can see that it’s not all negative but could easily be contrived as such and can also be associated with The Shadow Self but can also be a dysfunctional “center” of Self or even the Non-Self or King Fear!

The Black Sun

In esoteric Runelore the figure makes 3 swastikas which represent Arising, Being, & Passing Away to a new Arising.  Such as the solar eclipse represents the death of Osiris and the rise of Horus.

Found on the Norse Pagan band Non’s Website –

“There is a black sun which is not visible to the human eye.
It is our beacon and its fire burns within us”
– Akkadian temple inscription

The Black Sun however seems to sometimes (mostly) but not always be associated with the Dark Left-Hand path of Satanic and similar cults as the “negative” version of The Star or The Sun of popular esoteric philosophy.

Ancient eclipses had very powerful effects on the history of the human race. It was traditional seen as a bad omen. The word “eclipse” is derived from the Greek, “ekleipsis”, which means “omission” or “abandonment”. In Chinese it is “shih”, which means, “to eat up”.  (again refer to section on Evil regarding the absence of God).

In alchemy, the black sun, or “sol niger,” represents the dark, destructive aspects of the sun.

From a description of the Icon of the Annunciation:  The black sun in the upper part of the scene represents the essence of God, indefinable and unknowable; the rays represent His energies (in the form of the Holy Trinity) which are manifestations of His essence and can therefore be known.

This icon represents the Annunciation, that is, the moment when “The angel came in unto (Mary), and said, Hail, thou that art highly favored, the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou among women. And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be. And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favor with God. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.” (KJV, Luke 1: 28-31).

In Western Kabbalistic Tradition, Persephone and Hades are first encountered on the path between Malkuth and Yesod with Hecate as guardian of their Mystery. Pluto/Hades in his dark glory (the Black Sun or shadow-self) and Persephone as Queen of the Underworld, ruling death and rebirth (the bright-self) are to be encountered on the path between Yesod and Tippareth. These two paths lead to the “hidden riches” within the individual. The paths form part of an ongoing series of confrontations which are resolved in the process of attaining internal balance. This balance is to be found in the dance of energy which is poised at the knife edge between the forces of darkness and light, a manifestation of the power of Pluto.
